Assessing Property Visits

The Town of Orono’s Assessing Department will be updating our assessment records throughout town within the next year.A recent software upgrade now allows us to enter more property details.

State law directs assessors to review properties once every ten years. A town-wide data collection effort has not been conducted in Orono since 1990.

During this project a representative from the town will visit your property to measure the exterior of all structures and to conduct an interior walk-through. The in-home portion of the visit should take less than 20 minutes and is important not only to review the quality of construction, but also to document any deferred maintenance or negative influences. Data collection for all aspects of the property is necessary to ensure fair and equitable assessments.

If you are not at home when we visit, a door hanger will be left with a number that you can call to schedule an appointment.

The following vehicles are associated with this effort: a red 2006 Toyota Tacoma and a silver 2006 Pontiac G6.
